This is a March and Rally from Richmond BART to the Chevron refinery.
On August 3rd, thousands of people will come together in a momentous West Coast mass action – “Summer Heat Richmond March, Rally & Nonviolent Direct Action” – to stand with the people of Richmond who are on the frontlines of our common fight for the health and safety of our workplaces and communities, and to declare our collective resistance to fossil fuels. Join MG, 350.org, 350 Bay Area, the Richmond Progressive Alliance, Communities for a Better Environment, Gathering Tribes, Asian Pacific Environmental Network, Urban Tilth, and others for a march and rally at the Chevron refinery’s main gate. As part of the action, hundreds of members of two dozen unions, worker centers, and worker cooperatives will march as a Labor Contingent demanding union jobs for local residents in the clean energy economy and a just transition away from dirty, harmful fossil fuels.
This action falls three days before the one-year anniversary of the Chevron refinery’s most recent explosion and fire disaster that put thousands in the hospital, and poisoned the air and soil of the surrounding community. We are joining together to call for:
- A Just Transition away from Dirty Fossil Fuels to Union Jobs in Clean Energy
- No More Life-Threatening Hazards at Chevron
- No Refining of Dirty Crude
- No More Corporate Tax Evasion by Chevron
- No More Polluting Our Democracy by Chevron
- No Keystone XL Tar Sands Pipeline
MG is coordinating a children/families contingent! To join us, RSVP on FB here.
