Strategic Retreats

retreatA cohort of 25 participants from racial, economic and environmental justice organizations attend two three-day retreats at the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center in Sonoma County that combine in-depth discussion of the issues among participants with structured presentations and trainings by expert ecologists and organizers. The first retreat focuses on literacy and analysis of local and global ecology. The second focuses on strategy and the implications for organizing in urban communities. The retreats are the flagship program of MG and are a truly transformative experience for participants. “I’ve grown so much through these retreats – spiritually, emotionally, and politically. I‘m excited to advance this work so that it fits into a larger agenda. I’m particularly looking towards making the connection between Reproductive Justice & Ecological Justice as well as exploring the role and perspective of working class women in larger ecological questions.”
— Trang T. Nguyen, ACRJ (Asian Communities for Reproductive Justice)
